Tennis balls are made of natural rubber latex, which is vulcanized to increase its durability and elasticity. The cover is made of woven cloth. Usually, wool and the core are made of cork or rubber. They are then covered with a thin layer of paint.
The manufacturing process begins with the selection of the materials. The rubber is carefully chosen for its ability to bounce, while the cloth is selected for its durability and ability to grip the strings of a tennis racket. The cork or rubber core is cut to size, and the fabric is cut into strips.
The strips of cloth are then wrapped around the core, and the whole assembly is placed in a mold. The mold is then vulcanized, which means it is heated to a high temperature and then cooled. This process strengthens the rubber and bonding between the layers.
After the vulcanization process is complete, they are given a final coating of paint. This layer of lacquer protects the ball from UV rays and other environmental damage. Finally, they are inspected for quality and then packaged for shipment.
